My quest was to find a cosy more genial and less impersonal school than previous. Terramare school situated in the heart of the historic centre of Orbetello appeared to be ideal, the perfect idyllic environment in which to learn and absorb Italian. Orbetello situated on a strip of land alongside a beautiful Nature World Wildlife Fund lagoon, a haven for pink flamingos, surrounded by beaches of the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Appealing extracurricular afternoon activities, cycling, walking, museum visits within ancient cities surrounded by fortified walls complemented morning lessons. There was opportunity to bathe in hot spring waters and even a full day boat trip to explore beautiful islands.
Enjoyable evenings at the cinema and rare chance to peek inside a typical restaurant kitchen to discover how Italian food is prepared, both activities are a vital part of the language learning process to allow students during lessons to practice written and oral reconstruction.

Language learning and aspects of Italian life didn’t end after school as my accommodation was within a warm and friendly family, who made me feel part of them which added so much more to my learning experience in Orbetello. Not to mention my hosts tasty local dishes!
